Indonesia’s Work and Holiday Visa Program Will Move to a Ballot
Home Affairs has confirmed that Indonesia’s Work and Holiday subclass 462 program will move to a ballot. Registration, selection and the subsequent visa application remain separate stages.
The Department of Home Affairs has confirmed that Australia and Indonesia have agreed to move the Indonesian Work and Holiday subclass 462 program to a ballot-based pre-application process. Registration dates and final arrangements will be published once settled.
Selection is not a visa grant
- An eligible person first registers for the ballot;
- valid registrations enter a random selection process;
- a selected person may then be invited to lodge a subclass 462 application;
- the visa application must still satisfy health, character, age, education and all other applicable criteria.
What should prospective applicants do now?
- Use only formal Home Affairs pages for opening and closing dates;
- check passport, age, education and English requirements early;
- distinguish ballot registration from a visa application;
- be cautious of anyone claiming to guarantee selection or sell a ballot place.
