Tasmania issues 90 invitations and adopts a six-week assessment average

The 29 October round issued 64 subclass 190 and 26 subclass 491 invitations. Lowest ROI scores were 316/75, while assessment guidance changed to a six-week rolling average.

Migration Tasmania has published an actual invitation round dated 29 October 2026: 64 invitations for subclass 190 and 26 for subclass 491, a combined 90. The lowest invited ROI priority scores were 316 and 75, each one point below the 23 October result. The page also changes nomination assessment guidance from a three-month to a six-week rolling average. Invitation results and the subsequent verification of priority claims need to be understood separately.

Both totals reconcile with their components. The 25 further subclass 491 invitations are not all relabelled Green: that is not what the government published. No occupation, specific pathway or onshore/offshore breakdown is supplied, so these totals do not establish which occupation or pathway received the most invitations.

These are invitations to apply for state nomination, not nomination approvals or visa grants. A lower observed minimum describes this particular round, not a guaranteed future cut-off or a relaxation of individual visa requirements.

Assessment guidance now uses six weeks rather than three months

The updated page expressly says the rolling reference used in nomination assessment has changed to six weeks instead of three months. This concerns how a revised score is considered when priority attributes are checked after invitation. It does not replace the published minimum score actually invited in this round.

Score measure190491Meaning
29 October lowest invited ROI score31675Observed result of this round
29 October six-week rolling average invitation score32678Rolling reference in current assessment guidance
23 October three-month reference — historical41681Different window; not a like-for-like reduction

It would therefore be misleading to describe the change from 416 to 326 as a straight 90-point reduction in a fixed 190 threshold. Nor is 78 the lowest 491 score invited on 29 October. The averages cover different periods, while the round minimum and assessment average serve different purposes. Later assessments also require the then-current round and rolling figures, not an assumption that today's numbers remain fixed.

Priority claims still need evidence after invitation

The page says all claimed priority attributes are examined after invitation and nomination will be approved where the ROI and nomination information is true and correct. This does not remove existing application requirements or amount to Home Affairs approving a visa. Where one or more attributes cannot be verified, the revised score matters; the originally claimed total alone is not enough.

Summary of the official guidance checked 29 October 2026, not an individual eligibility decision. Unstated boundary cases have not been filled in.
Situation after verificationPublished guidancePractical caution
An attribute is unverified; revised score is above the latest round minimumMay still be approvedPossible, not guaranteed; other requirements and evidence still matter
Revised score is below the latest round minimum AND below the six-week averageWill be declinedThe page requires both below-threshold conditions
Score equals a reference, or falls into an otherwise unaddressed caseNot expressly resolved in this passageDo not infer greater-than-or-equal or less-than-or-equal rules
Priority attributes were intentionally inflatedWill be declinedA rolling average does not excuse inaccurate claims
A Gold applicant does not meet the claimed Gold attributeWill be declined regardless of total scoreA high total cannot replace the Gold attribute itself

Before preparing a nomination application, invitation recipients should recheck employment, earnings, study, residence and other evidence relevant to their actual claims. Having a score above this round's minimum is not a reason to ignore missing evidence or claim an attribute that cannot be established.

Nomination places available873654

These figures measure different stages. Subtracting Submitted ROIs from available places does not reveal how many applicants must be invited, and available places are not the next round's invitation plan. The oldest lodged nomination application not yet allocated to an officer was dated 29 September 2026. This is workload and allocation information, not a promise, service standard or individual outcome forecast, and does not prove every earlier application has been approved.

Frequently asked questions

Can I compare 75 federal EOI points with this round's 491 score?

No. Tasmania's ROI priority score is a different system from federal SkillSelect EOI points, ACT Matrix or WA round scores. Applicable state pathway conditions and federal visa requirements still need separate review.

Does a lower six-week average mean approval is easier for everyone?

No. A different measurement window does not establish an improvement in every applicant's prospects. Eligibility, verified claims and evidence remain important; the published refusal grounds for intentional inflation and unmet Gold attributes remain.

Does lodging an ROI extend my stay in Australia?

An ROI is not a visa application and does not itself provide a bridging visa. If your current visa is nearing expiry, lawful-stay options need a separate assessment rather than reliance on a hoped-for invitation.
